!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I wonder if you bought it now if you’d qualify for the settlement because you could make some serious coin.

Sold at a VW dealership I presume.

From what I understood from a VW dealer, the stop sale was on the brand new TDIs. Used ones were allowed to be sold still...
Now I wish I bought one when I had the chance

Hey I know that dealer!
Its a used car, so its fair game... I don’t think an open recall will prevent a sale here in WI but I could be wrong.

But could you capitalize on the payout?
Also, reputable dealer?

Not sure. Yeah the guys at 5-Corners are good people. Its a nice suburban/country type dealer. They sell a LOT of trucks.

New one’s have a stop sale as well as CPO. You can sell used all day long though. I know my dealership was pulling cars out of the CPO program and selling them as used just to get rid of them.

Used cars are still saleable, but it does bring up an interesting question...are dealers eligible for the buy-back or solely end consumers? I know that they said the person in possession of a vehicle when the discovery was made is entitled to split the penalty with the current owner, but if that owner is still a dealer does the split come into effect? If it does, and someone traded the car in which was subsequently bought by another consumer does that mean the split goes 3 ways (current owner, person owning at the time of the discovery, dealer who owned in between)?
Fun times.

Seems like you could get in on the payout, but it would be split with the previous owner according to the Jalop article posted yesterday. That’s a little weird when you’re buying from a third party... and if it was a trade-in, doesn’t the dealer “own” it now? How the F does that work? Yeah never mind.

I know dealers had to get massive checks cut to them because TDIs were a huge part of their sales.
My local VW dealer was happy because they are also a Honda dealer so they still were able to make some money.
All their TDIs got thrown in a sad corner and were filthy because VW actually took the keys so they were unable to be moved.

Fairly certain that VW dealers were not allowed to sell new OR used TDI’s. But there is nothing stopping a non-VW dealer from selling used cars.

Ah, maybe that is what I was thinking of.

Decided to comment here to try and hide from Yamahog and Xyl0
You really have to be careful around these parts now. Yama is now a mod and apparently all mods now have a basically zero tolerance policy for anything said, even in jest.
Good luck.
